We want to be a blog where you can find the inspiration to live a more conscious life, but we’re not here to preach to anyone. By showing off fantastic vegan food and bringing attention to the abundance of vegan establishments that are being introduced to cities around the world, we hope to plant a seed in the minds of the doubters that it is a sustainable and incredibly rewarding lifestyle.
According to the Vegetarian Resource Group Harris Poll done in 2016 about 3.2% of males living in the U.S. are vegetarian, and 3.5% of females living on the U.S. are vegetarian. It’s estimated that half of those vegetarians are also vegan. Approximately 3.7 million adults in the U.S. are vegan, while 4.3 million adults in the U.S. are vegetarian.
These numbers are staggering, and it seems as though more and more people are learning about what it means to eat a plant-based diet through the multitude of resources available.
It’s no wonder that all over the world there are thousands of expo’s and food festivals for vegans/vegetarians and the veg-curious to attend. To see a complete, but slightly outdated, list head over to Vegan.com.
Last year we attended the first fully vegan food and beer festival in Philadelphia. S.E.E.D, which stands for Sustainable Everyday Edibles and Drinkables, was held at the Sugarhouse Casino and featured samples from some of the best restaurants in Philadelphia, over 20 breweries, and vegan marketplace vendors. 20% of the ticket proceeds go to the Humane League of Philadelphia.
We’re not going to write up a full review on the event, since it was over 6 months ago, but we are going to tell you to go over to their website and get your tickets for this year! We had a great time, enjoyed tons of food, met some incredible people, and sampled a lot of beer. The event will be on August 13th, 2017. Early bird tickets are available now at a discount of $5 off per ticket. If you aren’t interested in drinking there is also a “food only” option at a cheaper price!
